Always more exuses

I know, always more exuses. My family and I have been struggling to move our Grandmother out of her house this week*, and before that my sister's dog had puppies!

*I don't even want to begin getting into what sorts of things we found abandoned in drawers and closets. (She shivers violently)

Oh, the busyness of it all!

Oh, and all that with two weeks of constant flu. Uh, yuck. Out vile flem, out I say!

Needless to say, I have been absent. I will put up more stuff soon. I stopped working on the crocheted piece because it kept getting smaller and smaller at the top and curling into a half moon, so I looked for a proper pattern at lionbrand.com which they have for free, and started working on a knitting piece, since I'm more familiar in that area. Anyway, I started a sweater for my three year old niece, once again! I bought a cool knitting book, which I have to admit, is quite advanced but helpful once you learn the basics. I'll put a link to it in my next post, too snuffly to get up and look at the title right now, :D.

The sweater is actually turning out much better than I expected, but I have to say that I practiced purling, knitting, and casting on stitches for a total of about four or five hours before I was satisfied enough to keep going. So I've finished the back part of the sweater and I bound it off, that is to say, finished it up so that it is by itself and off the needles without worry of it unraveling. I will post images of it tonight or tomorrow.

Now where did I put my box of tissues?

Oh, and stop nibbling your nails and take out the trash!

cough cough, sniffle

Cough, huh, huh, sniffle. Uch hem. Sorry about missing posts on the last two evenings-I've been trying hard to get over this cold, and developed a cough. Stupid viruses!! Evil green things with long teeth and evil warped minds and fuzzy hair, well, you get the idea.

I have been a good girl, just not well enough to load the images online-until now. But here they are. I finished "Feeling Green" my little froglet. I finished the background with acrylic paint, using purple, four varying values of greens, black, and sky blue.

I also started a new WIP (work in progress) of a little Jack russel pup giving his Dad a kiss. It's colored pencil, and I'll do my best to load images of my updates as I finish them. Later on I'll get more into the colors that I used, and my methods.

And I'll leave you for now, reminding you that Halloween is actually much closer than you think, and I'll put up some links to inspire you for decorating.

crochet sweater and another doodle

Unfortunately, I haven't been too creative today, because I woke up with a flu. Gah!
As I search for my computer under the growing piles of tissues, I managed to display for you my progress shots of a sweater for a three year old, done by crocheting leaf green and light French blue yarns. Everything on crocheting, I have found, is really based on the simple chain stitch . I'm frankly not sure if this sweater will properly fit my niece, but it sure is fun making the fun lacy parts!

I also drew another doodle of my dream cafe. Rough rough rough sketch, though.

update on froggy

In the land of the bloggers where procrastination is king! Sigh.

Ah, but I do have a reason. My brother was on his way to class when his car ran out of fuel. He leaves to get fuel a little aways. He comes back twenty minutes later.


It's gone. It was towed.


After many phone calls and much general hair pulling, the car is returned to my brother and all is well again.*

*at ten thirty at night.

By then I was spent, and all I wanted to do was curl up into a fetal position and sleep till the sun was notably in the sky. apologies/late post

I proclaim my greatest apologies for missing the last two days of posting. This evening me and my family were preparing a dinner for a good friend of ours, and Blogger is shut down temporarily.

Ironically, I cannot go to the blog itself, but I can still reach access to my posts.

something different

Strictly Monty Pithon, "and now, for something completely different."

I noticed a piece of shiny green origami paper that I had lying around, and I thought, hey, why don't I tackle it? Come here you 1D, uh, thing. Immediately, my first conquest was to create a paper crane, which is supposed to bring good luck, uh huh, but, not exactly that I believe in that kind of stuff. Anyway, I thought that it would be something different to do today, kind of like an entertainting, time wasting puzzle: a chinese version of a rubex cube, except a heck of a lot easier. :D

Different truck (Dodge) WIP and Testing Gravity the Wrong Way

Today I started and completed a WIP (work-in-progress) for you to see and behold. Today, my weapon was acrylics, and paint brushes. I give credit to the reference photo by norjam8 (thanks a bunch!), be sure to look through his many great photos.

On to the second part of my humble post, I today learned how not to use gravity. Or testing gravity the wrong way. Take your pick, whateva. I decided to use the swing. I sat upon zee swing and I swung on zee swing. I then looked at one of our family cats, Rudy, who looked at me rather apprasingly as I enjoyed my human entertainment. He then proceeded to look rather cockily at the top of the swing, the back at me. Rudy stayed cautiously fifteen feet from where I swung. But that was to be expected. No cat would want to get kicked by oncoming heavy, sneakered feet. Would you? My brother's dog wouldn't. I shouldn't have said that. Ah, but back to the story. A moment after Rudy had given the swing and I a final reproachful glance, the swing gave a painfully agonizing wail as the rope snapped with an deliriously unhappy shriek. For the briefest of seconds I think, "I'm flying, I'm flying!" Then a hard crack to my tailbone shoves me rather impolitely back to reality. That is, before
I temporarily blacked out. I opened my eyes indignantly, finding myself eagle sprawled on the ground, the leaves of the tree fluttering beautifully above my head. What wasn't so beautiful was the "poking a dead animal with a sharp stick" pain in my butt. I grimaced and rolled over gingerly, pointing an index finger savagely at Rudy.

"You could have warned me!" I hissed between clenched teeth.
Rudy looked at me, having stood up already, lashing his tail impatiently. His eyes seemed to tell me, "Would you have believed me if I had? You missed the boat. You snooze you loose." he probably would have added, "You shouldn't have been sitting on a flying piece of wood anyway." Whatever he would have said, I definitely learned the hard way how not to test gravity.

Update on Mack and Food for Thought

As titled, I have an update on my portrait of a fine rusty contraption. In every project, I always learn something. In this one, so far, I have found that there's an amazing quantity of purple in the color rust! I used Prismacolor colors, black grape, black cherry, Dahlia purple, and Parma Violet in creating this rust color.

Also, in my daily random searches, when I was looking at odd knittings, I happened to find a knitted Ferrari, a chicken wearing a sweater, and, well, something that is so past funny it's, uh, creepy. No, I'm sorry, I'm not kidding. Take a look. Laugh, and laugh again. And tell me what you think of the last one.

Mack Truck

Here's another project that I started today, a old, rusty Mack truck, courtesy of artistic pursuits on Flickr, a photo sharing site.

I layered ultramarine blue down where all the darks are going to be, and I'm now at the stage where I'm layering black on top of them.

An inspirational CD that I've been listening to is the new Bravery CD, called, The Sun and the Moon. The best tracks are I Believe, and The Ocean, in my opinion. Listen to it on Youtube to see what I mean.

update on "Feeling Green"

Here's an update on my frog. I've colored in his back, started working on his back leg, and a little more background. Here are the colors that I've been using overall.
